Care Groups Intentional relationships for the purpose of growing together.
New This Fall! As part of our long-range Enhanced Ministry Areas (EMA) vision for SCBC, we zero in this quarter on our first initiative, Member Care and Integration. Our chief means of expanding this area of ministry is through what we call Care Groups, and they officially kick into gear September 26. These small groups are for everyone who calls SCBC home—kids, singles, couples, and retirees—and will serve as a primary means of plugging in to SCBC, developing biblical friendships, and shepherding one another.
Care Groups will facilitate getting to know other Spring Creekers on a deeper level, and thus caring for one another as Christ commands. We’ll rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep (Rom. 12:15) and fellowship together with glad and sincere hearts (Acts 2:46) as we walk through seasons of life side by side. As we do so, we’ll not only strengthen our corporate unity, but also our individual walks with the Lord.
Care Groups will meet from 5:30-7:45 PM (with a “soft” start time for those coming in from work or school) on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month through the school year. We’ll eat dinner together or when you can arrive (learn dinner details at your group) while we laugh and rub shoulders, followed by a time of teaching, discussion, sharing, and prayer for each other. The evening will end in plenty of time to get tired kids in bed or the homework done! Or you can stick around if you want, and enjoy a few extra minutes of fellowship and conversation. It is an amazing privilege to be in Christ’s church together and we look forward to celebrating that regularly!
The first step to getting acquainted with these exciting new plans is to attend our Care Group Kickoff Lunch on September 9 right after the morning worship service. This will be our time to share more extensively the heart and intention behind these new groups, while also enjoying a delicious catered lunch. We encourage all to join us in learning more!
